Our truss is a lightweight, structural, aluminum truss system. Its portability and durability make our truss ideal for tradeshow booths, exhibits, displays and many lighting and staging applications. This designer's manual introduces many of the over 60 standard components which can be combined to offer an infinite array of configurations, and provides the professional designer with the basics required to take advantage of this products versatility. 
A truss has two elements - the longitudinal member or chord, and the cross member or web. The combination of chords and webs provides load bearing capability over long free spans and enables our truss to provide a reliable foundation for displays, while maintaining a visually appealing sense of openness.
Exhibit and Display Truss ( EDT ) is available in 2, 3 and 4 chord truss. The 2 chord truss will provide the load bearing performance indicated in the accompanying chart when used in the upright mode. The 2 chord truss can also be used in the flat mode to define a space. The 3 chord truss provides greatly increased load bearing capacity without a proportional increase in weight over the 2 chord truss. In combining elements of the 3 chord truss, it is important to be aware of the orientation of the triangular cross section.

CURVED TRUSS
The 2, 3 & 4 chord trusses are all available in curved sections. The trusses can be curved to virtually any
radius to form partial or full truss circles.

Junctions are the key to design versatility in our truss system. The 45 standard junctions have been selected to provide outstanding design without the additional cost and delay of custom work. (Custom junctions are available upon request.)
There are 20 standard 3 chord junctions, 16 standard 2 chord junctions, and 9 standard 4 chord junctions. The 4 & 3 chord junctions share many characteristics; however, the 2 chord junctions require a notation of upright (U) or flat (F) in the design.

2 axes
 21 - An included angle of 60 degrees with external dimension of 32 inches rather than the standard of 16 inches. The larger external dimension would also apply to any custom junctions between 45 degrees and 89 degrees.
22 - provides a 90 degree corner. The 22A is required to make an apex in arch corner in the vertical mode.
23 - Provides an included angle of 120 degrees to make hexagon elements.
24 - Provides an included angle of 135 degrees to make octagon elements.

31 - Makes an outside corner and comes in right (R) or left (L) in the 3 chord truss.
32 - Makes a horizontal intersection in the 3 chord truss. Makes all other 2 & 4 chord truss, 3 way intersections in either upright (U) or flat (F) mode.
33 - Makes a vertical intersection in the 3 chord truss.
34 - Makes a vertical/horizontal intersection in the 3 chord truss. The 34A is needed if the design requires a 90 degree shift in apex orientation of the intersecting trusses.

5 Axes
51 - A column with a horizontal cross at the top. Often used as a center column roof support. Available in the 2 chord truss in the upright (U) mode only.
52 - A column with a 3 axes mid-section. Used to create internal cube effects. Not available in the 2 chord truss.
60 - Six truss intersection. Available in 2 chord truss in the upright (U) mode only.



  ACCESSORIES

Our truss system components are augmented by standard accessories that can enhance your design. (Other items are available on a custom basis as required.)


Inside Brace Outside brace BRACE
Corner braces can be used to provide additional strength and stability: 3 foot and 6 foot inside, and free standing outside braces are available.
VT-Insert INSERT
Components are connected using a sleeve called an insert. The insert consists of a 1 27/32"D x 1/8" wall 8" long aluminum tube together with M10 bolts and nylocks.

Many structures require an aluminum base plate for a column to distribute the weight more evenly. This prevents damage to the support surface as well as increasing structural stability. Bases are available for 2, 3 and 4 chord truss.
end caps END CAP
All components are shipped with black plastic end caps to protect the chord end in transit. These end caps should be saved for reuse and can protect a supporting surface from the sharp edge of a chord in situations where a base is not used.
collar REINFORCING COLLAR
A 2 1/4" OD x 1/8" wall x 5/8" long aluminum tube can be welded to the end of the chords to provide additional strength and durability.
Extender2 EXTENDER
A set of swivel castings can be used in place of a junction to join two similar trusses, to join a 2 chord truss with a 3 chord truss, or to join trusses with different apex orientations. Extenders are not recommended for vertical load bearing applications.
Quick Clip2 QUICK CLIP
A quick release clip can be used in place of the M10 bolt and nylock when repetitive, quick installation and dismantling is required.
Clamp / graphic clip CLAMP
Stainless steel clamps are available for attaching graphic panels, signage or small lighting fixtures to the truss. (see LDS hardware for other options)
PAINT FINISHES
Our truss can be powder coated, whenever a finish other than the natural aluminum is desired. All standard powder coat colours are available.
ELECTRICAL CONDUIT
Electrical cables can be run inside all trusses and most junctions. Access holes should not exceed 5/8" and should not be drilled at web intersections. Grommets are recommended.

CUSTOM SIZES
Custom Truss Trusses can also be manufactured in many custom sizes.
